does anyone have any knives of alaska brand knives.i like them and there fair priced some have d2 steel others have Aus-8.how are they?

I have received several calls at my shop(in Kenai, Alaska) asking the same thing but when I tell them they are made in Texas they have all changed they're mind about ordering one. I'd like some feedback on their knives if anyone has used them?

They don't claim to be made in Texas. The knife designer and I believe company is in Alaska. They are all developed on hunting/outdoor adventures in Alaska.

I've read two reviews on them and they were both good. I believe United or Frosts has copied more than a few of their designs, this usually means the design is either good or popular or both.

The knives I've seen at shops and shows are well made, sharp, designed to be worn on the belt. My opinion is they should work well and last, but are slightly pricey.

I had to check up on Knives of Alaska to make sure I was correct so I called their 800 number and ask where the knives are made and they said here in Denison Texas. That doesn't mean they don't make a great knife it's just from their name you'd think they're made in Alaska. Also on their website they don't say where the knives are made. :)

I have the "Brown bear combination", the set includes a skinner/cleaver and a caping knife. I am an avid hunter and there are no knives that even compete that I have used, or seen at least, for cleaning, skinning and butchering of game. I have used them on everything from dove and quail to boars and bears. The only thing that I don't like about them is the D2 blades. Don't get me wrong D2 is great steel, but it isn't rust proof (I have yet to meet the knife that totally is.) This would be ok if these knives were not designed to be outside in the commision of there use or were not meant to butcher meat for the consumtion of humans. Anyways the knives are worth their money if you don't mind paying a fair amount of attention (a little more than you would pay to most game knives) to them.
