What's your guys' opinion on these knives? I've been eyeballing the Bushcamp combo set lately. I really like that bushcamp knife. Made out of D2 too. My father has the skinning set, couple of the smaller knives, and they seem pretty rock solid. What do you think? Anyone own the bushcamp knife and put it to the test?

Thanks,

Heres a pic of the combo im talking about:

I bought a KOA Bush Camp knife. It is lighter and thinner than I expected. Looks like it might be great for chopping vegetables or preparing camp meals, but a little light for heavy wood work. I think Ontario's RAT-5 or RAT-7 are better camp knives. Gerbers new LMF II works well as an all around camp knife as well. My Alaska knife is D-2 with rubber handles. If you carry an axe or machete, it could be used for the lighter work. Its a quality knife, just not what I was expecting.

I got a D2 camp knife from Cabela's 3 or 4 years ago and it has stood up well with all task I have thrown at it. I would buy another in a minute!!!!

KOA advertsied that they changed from AUS8A in the Bushcamp knife to D2 because they discovered the guides in alaska and canada were using them to skin and butcher moose and bears with them. I have one in D2 but it hasn't seen alot of heavy use. I tested it on boatoning hard alder (4" dia.) and it worked fine.

My Brother-in-Law really like his KOA knives. Used him Bear Cub on a bear and wolf last year, with no sharpening (D2 go figure). He swears by it and living in Alaska they don't F around with thier hunting gear. After checking it out last year and the other fixed blades, I'm impressed. As for folders I'm not very impressed.
