Often times we are blessed with those in our lives that support this crazy habit of knife collecting/accumulation. I’m blessed with a very knife friendly family.

If you have received a new blade for Christmas feel free to share your new knife here, or if you have an old memory of a gifted knife to you, or from you to another feel free to share here.

Long read ahead....

In September of 2007 I lost my father in a car accident, it was an extremely trying time and the way the world seemed in that moment made the idea of “Christmas joy” a foolhardy experience. I was 13 and hurt, life just hurt.

It was easy to wave off the thought of our traditional Christmas morning and the family decided that we wouldn’t recognize the season with gifts and a big tree, no stalkings would be hung, no lights. Instead we would buy ourselves a new game console and each of my two brothers, my mom and I would supply the family with a new game each, it was meant to be a distraction from the echoing loss.

Christmas Eve arrived and that ferverent chill of excitement filled no one, we shared a small Christmas meal together recognizing the real reason for the season in thoughtful prayer and soon turned in for the night...

When I awoke the house was transformed into a winter wonderland, a small tree was brightly lit with dozens of gifts underneath, the stalkings stuffed full, each displaying our names, the garland and lights twinkled brighter than I’ve ever seen before, or since. The breath that left my body was drenched in excited confusion, even in the midst of a troubling time my adolesent joy was tapped into with this amazing gesture. My mom worked a miracle overnight.

Inside one of my packages lay a beautiful Case Tuxedo dressed in stag, that knife found its way into my pocket and my heart, it signifies that amazing day and when I hold it now I feel the warmth of my mom’s love.

A decade later and life has changed so much, but that memory floods back every Christmas Eve and this year my mom unknowingly tapped into my adolesent joy again with a Case knife. Adorned in stunning stag this trapper will ride with me until it’s drenched in days afield, thoughtful moments in time and a splendid character that stag obtains.
