I'm looking to add to my collection. I was interested in this, does anybody own one or can tell me if they are worth the expense?

I had the smaller and larger version of this. The blades are going to be thinner than you imagine.

That’s why the price is low, it probably takes only a few minutes to forge out, I think the best analogy for the small version would be to imagine the thickness of a steak knife.

The larger one was thicker, actually thick enough that I wouldn’t be afraid to use it for heavy chores- IF you realize its limitations. It’s not a chopper, it’s not gonna baton, but if you need a good belt knife for heavy cutting it will be great.

As for the steel, it’s a basic carbon steel run fairly soft IME. You can strop it on jeans and it will be a razor. But if you use it for anything abrasive you’ll need to touch it up frequently.

I don’t believe they include sheaths, so you’ll have to make or find one to fit. I had the set and sold it for quick funds. I actually really regret it, because I like the design and these are about as “simple in function” as you can find.

In conclusion, if you like the design you’ll be hard pressed to find a better value. It’s a solid knife for knife things. If you want fancy, or indestructible, or modern- you’d probably rather skip it 👍

I personally don't believe that is a forged blade, at least not individually hand forged. Probably stamped out or water jet/laser cut.

As for the OP....I'd look for something with a better grind. All that blade height/length with that little tiny scandi grind is a waste and is testament to poor cutting geometry.

With a blade thickness of only 0.08" / 2 mm the low grind may not be that much of an issue.

But for a large knife I'd want a much thicker stock than that.

That isn’t really a hudson bay or a roach belly pattern is it?

I wouldn’t buy it. If you like it you should though.
If you are looking for something to use in that price range i would suggest for you to get a buck 119 or maybe something from cold steel.
