knives on ebay from thailand ???

For real indeed.
I have bought some real gems from Uncle Vit in Thailand. He ships the next day and the quality and intense filwork are to be comended. They are worth every penny and more to me. But I am also used to paying for and enjoying one of a kind collectables. So his prices are dreamy cheap!!! Take a chance, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Peace.

I guess it depends on what one wants. A "pretty" knife or a rugged, useful knife. Drop any of those knives and you could very easily crack the handle. They look mostly like show pieces. I also don't want to make any judgements that could very well be wrong but the Damascus just doesn't look quite right to me. However, I alway qualify my stee comments by saying that I'm NOT a steel expert. Mcusta knives from Japan have a very good reputation and use a 33 layered nickel Damascus with a VG-10 core. This knife looks like it has "etched" (fake) Damascus, but I could be wrong. Others with the knowledge would have to be the real judge. Compare the two pictures and judge for yourself.

"Prince of Peace" says he likes them so there is some first hand knowledge that is very valuable. However, they are two different sellers. Some of the knives on the link he provided do look very nice. But for the prices he asks, one can get some very nice production and even small custom knives made of 154CM, D2 or S30V. His are 440C or the Damascus. I guess I'm just the eternal skeptic.

Good luck if you decide to purchase one and hope it's all you expected. Let us know.

Don't know that I'd personally support this guy, "cm_knife." One of his items is listed as "old tip ivory," with a disclaimer about legality of internationally trading ivory goods. To me, that means it's not PRE-ban ivory, but POACHED, i.e. illegally harvested—bad for the endangered elephant populations all over the world, and I want no part of it.

Kind of off topic, but why are we so concerned about endangered species. Name one negative effect of not having elephants on this planet (besides lack of ivory). We concern ourselves so much with diminishing animal populations, what about the diminishing population of decent humans? I'd care about the way we treat eachother before we care about some big grey smelly ivory factory. Not intending to hijack this thread, just making a point.

First off the knives are tiny. Also the person selling it only has 20 sales. When ever I am on eBay and read a description that is repeating phrases such as this one is about it's "beautiful balance and Symmetric" & "if collector you must got it" I shy away. Also Bangkok is a NOGO for me. Those same descriptions are on all the cheap SCAM .99cent Samurai Swords. Be Cautious!!!

Okay, becuase I'm a moron, can someone pleas tell me what EDC is?

Not a moron, just new. Welcome to the forums.

EDC is Every Day Carry. It's used here primarily in relation to knives, but can also relate to pens, watches, billfolds, flashlights, etc... anything that one carries on a regular basis.

The continuing disrespect for wildlife and our environment. This type of attitude is what got us to the point of unimaginable consequences within the next 50-100 years. How we take care of wildlife and the environment is reflective of how we take care of each other. Life is life, weather animal or human. But no one is going to change your mind so I'm sure you think I'm just blowing hot air. Retort if you must.

I boughttwo knives from cm_knife. The damascus is very nice and the knives feel very solidly built. I have a little trouble with his English but I believe that he is a seller and not a knife maker himself. There may be some variability in quality. I would not hesitate to buy another knife from him. His knives tend to sell for the minimum bid price or close to it. As long as that remains true they are a real bargain.

Yup, look at what everyone was afraid of in the 70's that would have "unimaginable consequences within the next 50-100 years": http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/cooling1.pdf
Looks like we went from global cooling to global warming in 30 years! I'm just tired of everyone being so worked up about how we're ruining the enviroment. Am I saying be careless? Heck no! Am I saying go poach some elephants for their large expensive teeth? Of course not! What I am saying is sit back and enjoy this earth that God made for us, when He chooses to end it, then you can start worrying about global warming:eek: !

P.S.: Don't blow too much hot air, it contains a lot of greenhouse gasses!

No reason to draw this out on a knife forum only to say "we shall see".
And I liked your postscript. Gave me a good laugh. I hope you don't live too close to the coast.
