I was hoping to get some help and advice about how to catalog and sell a large cache of knives. My father in law passed away last year and he was an avid collector of knives amongst other things. Not knowing much about his knife collection but knowing enough I would estimate roughly $30,000 worth of knives. Many different brands and types of knives in this collection. My wife seems to think it will be a big headache to catalog all these knives and I tend to agree. Any suggestions on how to go about it would be greatly appreciated.

There are various dealers who will buy large collections, depending on the types of knives, condition thereof, and potential resale value. Since they are businesspersons who will need to make a profit on the transaction, you will not get high prices but the hassle is minimized.

To maximize price received, you would need to sell them yourself, individually, though web sites like the Exchange forum here, or through big auction sites like Ebay. But then you have to deal with the hassles of photographing, describing, packing, shipping, and dealing with the inevitable occasional fraudulent or problematic buyers.
