Anyone ever watch the show Moonshiners? Not going to get into whether or not the show is real or fake, but it is interesting. Anyway, I've noticed alot of traditional knives are used on the show. Any time they open a sack of corn or cut anything, its usually always a yellow Case trapper. The other night, there was a story about Popcorn Sutton's pocket knife when he was a kid. Probably not a place for the story, but the knife they showed looked to be a very old Case large stockman. When he described the knife, it sounded like a moose or muskrat (blades opened up on each end") but they showed what looked to be a large stockman, and I guess it does have blades opening on each end, with two on one end.
Anyway, I find the use of traditional slip joints on the show interesting and it's about the same as it is in the Ozarks where I live, where pretty much all you see are Buck and Case.

Never seen the show, but it would be funny if they used one of those kissing crane "moonshine series" knives.

There is a documentary on YouTube about Popcorn Sutton called "The Last Batch of Likker I'll Ever Make" or something very similar to that. If I remember right, they were reaming some copper tubing with a Case Trapper.

I’m up the road a bit from the smokies. Most of the old mountain fellers round here carry a trapper. Most of the men in my family still does. The reason for it is because they say a trapper is the do all knife. It can strip a wire, skin a deer, castrate a calf, or anything for that matter. Growing up we never carried a hunting knife. We skinned and gutted everything with a pocket knife. Most old moonshiners I know carry a trapper. I think it’s more of country thang. My favorite pocket knife is a yellow trapper. I don’t carry one much because it feels like a brick in my pocket.

Moonshiners is one of my favorite shows. I thought it looked like they were using trappers to cut up fruit.

We had that series here on the Telly here in Finland too, quite amusing & interesting. Don't think I noticed knives in it, they would likely be a CASE Yellow D of some sort I suppose? Some characters looked like they might've been using a knife for home dentistry too....:D:D:eek:
