This calls back to my first thread on Bladeforums, which was received with, lets say... enthusiasm.

They're complimentary tools, or if nothing else, the one keeps the other safe.

These live in the tool bag.

This one brings it's own.

This one is always on my key ring. I like pry-based OPMTs, but that's not a "knife" thread.

4 Max Scout works pretty well for careful / mild prying .

The large RangerGrip can opener works fine also . :)

Question for the guys with the skimpy little $70 3” titanium pry-bars - what are they good for, except opening paint cans ? How strong is the titanium screwdriver at the end of some of those, will it marred if you push harder on a stuck flathead screw or use the little wrenches for unscrewing nuts… ? I‘m not being sarcastic, just curious what can one really do with $60-$70 2”-3” piece of titanium ?

What is this "Man purse", that I've seen references to My jeans have pockets...

I like this one by Les George - it’s 1/4” titanium and it fits perfectly in the Molle webbing behind my tourniquet. I’ve only used it a few times but I carry it to save my edges, (and to potentially help pry someone off of me in a less-lethal manner than other options I have).
Got it for $80 awhile back but they’re more expensive now…

I wonder the same thing. I guess that since you don't have a beefy handle to exert too much torque on it, they will survive just fine. But if something is stuck, then you need to get real tools... Once you ruin the head using inadecuate bits... your chances of getting it out go down the drain... Seen it happen seeeeeeeeeeeeveral times among people who doesn't know the difference (and don't care to learn) between PH and PZ screw heads...

The little pry bar comes in handy more than I ever thought it would. Mostly for stuck basement windows and re installation of panels on HVAC equipment.

Mine is not titanium.

Couple years ago, something happened that allowed Ti to be mass-produced for just about everything, and the EDC world was saturated with the stuff, for a while.

It's a "better than nothing" kinda situation. Titanium is nice and light, which makes it easier to carry, which means you're more likely to have it when you need it.

In practice, Titanium behaves similar to Aluminum, a fact I had to give Boker some money to find out. Once I saw how easily it gets chewed up, I switched back to steel. Even the lil' baby pry tool in the original post is some kind of medium carbon. It just doesn't get used, much.

In my SUV , rides a 42" Stanley wrecking bar .

THIS is a pry bar ! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

In my truck I have at least 6 or 7 different prybars, all steel. From 4” to 5’ wrecking bar.
‘I was wondering what the 3” titanium-ones that you keep on your keys, are good for, if they are so expensive.
