This is a kit I am thinking about....what do you think?
I am prettymuch new to sharpening, but have seen quite a few good reviews of the Bark River compounds used with a leather block (youtube).
It seems a little spendy, but is the products within worth it? I would be using it as my backpacking kit.
If need be, I can add a DMT diafold to the kit to handle any major chips.

Please post some thoughts and ideas.

I don't have one but it looks like a pretty handy kit for when you're out and about. Small, compact, lightweight and easy to carry. Don't see how you could go wrong.

Well it does look geared for convex, but stropping is a humongous part of sharpening a v edge, so yes it can be used for v and convex.

Also look at JRE, they carry a product called the EMS sharpening block. It works very good and comes with almost everything you need.

you are right chococrazy stropping is definitly needed to finish any sharpening. readyme, your knife will become convex ( it's actually quiet easy) and I think you will like the results. I just wanted to make sure you didn't buy it and then regret it because it was not the way you planned on sharpening.

Thanks for the help.

I like what comes with the kit, but I have no experience with it. I guess I have to get it and find out for myself.

I've been looking at the same kit, you should post your results of how you liked it so we all know. Thanks.
