i'm looking for a knife with a shorter blade, for edc... something just as thin and preferably with the same type of locking mechanism as the camillus cuda maxx 5.5", but smaller -- like a darell ralph 3" mad maxx II. i would get one of those but there's no way i will pay $500+ for a knife. :grumpy:
i like the gerber applegate mini covert folder, but i don't want serrations.

are there any knifes similar to those two?... or are there other custom knife sites like darellralph.com that i should check out ?

i know you said no Darrel Ralph, but it sounds like you want the Camillus Dominator. it's really close to the Maxx in design, and it runs about $160 bucks on a few popular knife seller sites, and about $130 on eBay.

Dominator

and for a much cheaper alternative to the Dominator, try the Camillus Heat. i picked a couple of these up last month, and they're terrific! the only real caveat is that the Zytel handles are much fatter than the titanium on the Dominator. can't be beat for $54 (~40 on eBay).

Check out the folding Sting by AG Russell. Three inch blade, titanium frame lock and styled very similar to the MAXX.

Boker makes a folder knife simmilar to the Maxx. The Martialist has a review of one a few months back.
