i missed the boat on the emerson persion back when it was in production, and i'm impatient so i don't feel like waiting on a limited production run. i also don't trust buying used knives from strangers. (sorry, no offense to anybody here)

i love the curved scimitar looking blade style so that's what i'm looking for. so far i've found the kershaw packrat and cold steel scimitar but that's it for curved bladed folders so far. what other knives am i looking for? my budget is pretty set at 150, with 200 being the absolute tops, so no full blown 500$+ customs or one offs.

Spyderdo Persian.
Benchmade Bedlam.

+1 on both of these.

I have the Bedlam and really like it. Did a mini review on it a couple months ago and discussed some pros and cons (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/802321-Benchmade-Bedlam-860-impressions).

I don't have the Persian 2 YET, but it is going to be one of my next purchases.

EDIT: One last thing I will mention for the benefit of SCOWL13 - I am not a very trusting person either when it comes to purchasing/trading knives and there are plenty of horror stories in the feedback section of people getting screwed. However, I have only had great experience buying and trading on BF. If you buy and trade smart you should be ok. (By smart I mean 1) make sure the person has good and substantial feedback and 2) I NEVER use paypal gift.). There are some good deals to be had here! Good Luck.

I'd agree with the Spyderco Persian and Benchmade Bedlam, perticularly the Bedlam. Coldsteel also used to make a similar folder I think it was called the Scimitar. Might find one on the secondary market. I think they have one called the Talwar too for a higher price. Spyderco Chinook is somewhat similar aswell.

The Cold Steel Espadas are sort of similar. Not really a pure "Persian" style, but they have upswept clip point blades with a nice fine tip, and the handle creates that nice "S" shape.

Scowl,
If you can live with a fixed blade you can get a Meyerco persian on the cheap. Solid, razor sharp, decent enough sheat, and feels great in the hand.
