I was browsing a couple sites, and I found at least one occurence of a given knife sold twice:

I wonder what it sold for the 2nd time.

Any other examples? I have seen many a knife posted first on Nordic and then sold somewhere else, but generally the pages on Nordic are removed.

I was forwarded an email that had been sent out by a dealer to his "select" clients, it was offering a knife I was selling as an "incoming piece" , at a substantial mark up, and asking if there was any interest. The dealer did not approach me, probably because I sold the piece elsewhere quickly.

Some dealers make their money by having a captive market of a few collectors and if they see work at other dealers with a profit opportunity they will buy, I think they also trade to each others strengths interms of types and makers held in inventory.

I would like some information that could help me photograph some of my damascus knives
at the present time I am not achieving the detail of the pattern that I would like.
I can be contacted on yakka@aanet.com .au

I have been close with a number of dealers for over 10 years and these guys do buy/sell/trade a lot of knives among themselves. At a slow show the dealers are usually very busy :)
