Hey guys.. I was wondering if ya'll could tell me about all the production knives that I should look at.. I know there are tons of different models and I know alot of the really popular ones ( pretty much all of the spydercos, cold steels and pretty much the basics).. just want to learn about some bad@ss knives that I probably would have missed otherwise..

Thanks:)

Beckers are awesome knives and possibly the best value on the market, IMO. I also love ESEE. Kershaw has too many amazing values to count. Just start googleing and let us know what you find.

The classics, of course. :) If you don't own one already, get a Buck 110, a Spyderco Delica, a Ka-Bar fighter, a SAK, etc. These are knives that stand the test of time, aren't very expensive, and take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

OK, I don't know what your price bracket is, but the good thing about knives is there are good knives all over the price bracket. So, the good knives mentioned above, and.....some of my favorites:

Be sure and look at all the Microtech autos,
Strider, fixed and folders.
Chris Reeve, folders.
Fox USA
Busse, the full line and the Kinfolk
Fehrman Knives
Extrema Ratio
Jeremy Horton, the music on his website rocks!
Zero Tolerance, folders
TOPS, very "Hollywood, Predatorish" looking knives.
Grayman Knives, similar to Striders, but less expensive.

That's pretty much my list. I'm sure some others can add more.

lol.. SAIL played everyday in my lockerroom during football season.. are TOPS knives really worth the money?.. and I really like Jeremy Hortons knives (especially the cleaver!) do you know how much they cost?

Are TOPS worth the money? Probably so. Every one of them that I've used (all sported 1/4 inch thick blades) was built like a truck and VERY easy to sharpen. Only thing that bothered me was that they tended to rust fairly easy after a week-end of 4 wheeling and bush frolic. Nothing a bit of WD40 and some elbow grease could not remedy.

If you like the machete...try a bolo in high carbon from Condor. Sterling performance, keen out of the box and fab ergos. As much as I favor and promote the standard 18 inch Ontario, this Condor has proved tough to beat. Cuts like a demon!

It really depends on what you are looking for.. for instance, I buy knives I plan to use. I don't collect for looks or as investment. I don't by knives b/c they "look cool". I buy for use based on quality and value. This will give a better picture of what you want. Do you just want some fantasy blades to showcase or real users. I've bought sold lots of knives b/c they don't fit into my guidelines for useful and purpose build for my needs. That being said.. ones that didn't work for me are the perfect knives for others.

Here are some I like based on a good value and very useful EDC or camp knife. Caveat, I'm a bigger guy and like bigger blades.. but small knives have their place as well.

Daily folders:
- Spyderco's: Military PE, Para2 PE, Stretch SE (better than Endura IMO, better ergos), Pacific Salt PE (also better than the Endura IMO, lighter), Dragonfly
Sometimes folders (but good blades):
- Benchmade: Griptillian, Mini-Griptillian, 707
- Spyderco: Gayle Bradley, Citadel Auto
- Cold Steel: Recon 1
- Buck: 110 (Classic)

Fixed:
- Bark River: Bravo 1
- ESEE: #4, IZULA
- Falknieven: F1

Kershaw:
Blur (S30V model is even better)
Skyline
Leek
Spyderco:
Paramilitary 2 (if you don't get any other Spyderco's at LEAST get this one)
Delica and/or Endura
Manix 2
Buck:
110
Vantage
Cold Steel:
Rajah II :D Just a cool folder to have/use
Benchmade:
710
741 Onslaught
Mini Griptilian
Higher End Pieces:
CRK Sebenza (I really like and prefer the Insingo model)
Strider- whichever folder fits your prefered size: PT (small), SnG (medium), SMF (large), GB and AR (extra large)
High end Kershaws (Volt, Tilt, etc.)

There are definitely more but these are ones that come to mind right away for me at least. Good luck!

TOPS may be a bit pricey for what they are, but they are good, reliable knives. The 1095 steel they use is very common, good strength, not so corrosion resistant, but easily sharpened. One thing I noticed is that the knives on their website are alot more expensive than other vendors. Keep an eye on that.

Those two together is sorta interesting as I have both coming in on Wednesday!

Same here for the most part. I'm keeping an eye out for the Becker ''Tweeners'' (a tentative name subject to change), right now. Should be out Jan.-Feb. 2012 ? These are going to be sweet.
