Knives that mysteriously find work.

I have been pondering this for awhile. I as most of us have an EDC rotation, and I have found that certain knives when they land in my pocket just drum up more cutting. I don't think it's mental because my knife tray is full of users. Any other similar stories from my favorite group of knife lovers? Pictures of the usual suspects.

Hell of a line up. I keep meaning to pick up one of those Case teardrops in pocket worn red.

Thanks Justin! My big brother gave me that last month when I flew down to visit. I used the snot out of it last night getting the dog houses ready for our first cold snap.
Respectfully, Chance.

Chance, I have several that for some reason see an increase in cutting chores versus others I carry. I suspect this is due to the fact that I own my own "handyman" business in my slow season and always have or know what jobs/tasks I have the following day so "knife up" accordingly.

I'll try and take a picture of the workforce when I can take some day shots:thumbup:

^^look forward to seeing that. I know that whenever I pocket my GEC #15 there seems to be a myriad of chores that suddenly arise requiring its use. No idea how that happens

Interesting thread Paul  The big culprit for me last year was the Aitor Castor Pequenya, given to me by ScruffUK. I thought it looked a bit odd, but what a great slicer, as post after post in the 'Workout' thread will testify! :D

I'll play :)
I'm going to leave out my peanuts, I take one to work each day and they do a lot of work, more than you would expect. At home, probably this one is the one that I put in my pocket if I have an inkling that I'll need to do a lot of chores but don't know what, when or where...

It's a little work horse, I love it.

I use this old Hammer around the kitchen. The small pen blade spring is worn out but it makes it easy to open it. The wharncliffe is great for dicing.

Knives that find work?

Any of my hardcore edc rotation. The Northwoods stockman, the resolza from Sardinia, and the zuava from Northern Italy all find themselves doing cutting. What they all have in common is a great feel in the hand and comfortable grip. Rounded off corners, handles that are more round in cross section than not. Nice flat ground blades with a thin edge that slices and dices in a pleasing manner. I've found that the zauva and resolza love to cut meat. Hard salami, pepperoni, well done BBQ. They seem to glide throughout the stuff. And of course, the Vic classic has done repair jobs all out of proportion to it's size, and goes through federal building security in D.C.

These have become my favorite knives.

Thanks for all the stories friends! As a test I pocketed an oddball this morning, one not on the list of "finds work" I got home ate supper and went out in the back forty to run the dogs and the boy's. Literally minutes ago I swapped the oddball out for the case teardrop, my youngest walks up says "Dad can you cut this?" Maybe it's true these traditionals have soul.

Flip side to the coin - I seem to have a knife that repels work. I have a very nice Case Trapper in the Pocket Worn Red Bone that has very sharp blades. It's larger than my usual weekly carry but I take it along when wearing jeans on the weekend. And I just never end up using it for anything.

But if I swap it out for the much smaller Buck 303 which is one of my more usual weekly carries, all manner of little chores come up that the Buck is ideally suited for. A Case Sod Buster Jr I just recently acquired seems to attract its fair share of tasks, too, when I carry it.

And then I have a GEC #12 Powderhorn Jack that seems to have the same issue as the Case Trapper. It's a very capable knife of a good size, nice and sharp and I love the pattern, but when I've got it along, there's not a thing I need to cut.

Good point John, it's possible the same happens here. I'm going to do more testing carrying the finders and the ones that seem to repel work.
Respectfully, Chance.
