Was surfing the net for urban exploration sites and came upon this pic of knives in an abandoned police station in detroit, michigan. They also left cannisters of tear gas/pepper spray there - i guess they had to leave in a hurry.

This is actually from one of the Detroit suburbs, cant recall which one at the time. The city essentially ran out of money so it got rid of it's own police force and decided to rely on State troopers and County Sherrifs to do all of their policing. The city's officers were told that they were laid off, so they turned off the lights, closed the doors and went home. The police station sat vacant and was looted, most if not all of the evidence for ongoing investigations had been left in the station, and those knives are most likely all evidence. I have a few friends who are really into Urbanex around Detroit (There is alot of cool stuff), and they've gone into the station but the area it is in is a little too dicey for me to head over there. They definitely saw evidence of people living in the building and saw alot of drug paraphernalia around too, not somewhere I want to go explore.

and appropriately for them being evidence and having been used in crimes, they are all cheap kitchen knives. Apparently outlaws aren't out there carrying around Busses, who would have thought...

WOW, They just left a Police station vacant in Motor City? WTF. Well I guess I would have been pissed if I was an Officer and just got laid off too, But what about the evidence in on going cases? They don't need it. they offer you 20 years or plea to 2 years, no evidence needed, thats why there is a 99% "Conviction rate" plea rate. Sorry that should go to Whine and Cheese. But really. WTF. Ok, Just leave a Police station, Ok, DUH. Typical though.

A house in Detroit sold recently for $1 because the bank was tired of paying the taxes on it...no place I would live, and I dont visit anymore.
