Hi I was thinking of ordering the WWII khuk but as I live in Canada, I was wondering if anyone else has ordered a khuk and what the Canadian Customs has dinged people for.

You get the duty (sales tax) + an inspection fee ($5 or $10).

This can easily be avoided with the right description on the customs forums.

What should the forms read to avoid hassles

Getting around duties and such requires you to be less than honest about the description. Some shippers will do this, some won't. It is not something that should be discussed on a public board in any case.

I am not really trying to get around the duties I am trying to get a feel for how much they are going to cost me.

I don't know what Canadian Customs wants or doesn't want to hear, cut calling knives "cutlery" or "tools" or "hardware" is truthful. A khukuri is, after all, a common farm tool.

"hand tool" is another one that seems to work rather well

At the worst I have been hit with:

Inspection Fee ($5) + GST + PST

GST and PST are based on goods converted to Canadian dollars. If the package is marked tool, large fixed blade knife, or khukuri it will usually not be opened. You will be charged the inspection fee if the package is opened or not if taxes are levied. Personally I like them to open, it will be they actually did some work.
