All,
in refernce to the 'strongest liner lock thread', please list your knife to be tested during our summer knife trials...

We will do testing on lock failures in a consistent and meaningful manner.

All Buck Lockback and Linerlocks will be tested.

Jeff

How about a REKAT rolling lock and a BenchMade axis lock? Also, perhaps a Spydie Military?

Jeff,
How about the CRKT Mirage (Aluminum Handle).
It's in the Buck price range and seems
to be a pretty solidly built knife.
Doc

How about a Benchmade Monolock? EDI Genesis? CRK Sebenza?

Personally, I would like to see some real tests on several knives by the same outfit. There are a lot of claims as to the strongest lock and it is hard to make a real judgement since the tests are usually isolated to a small number of knives.

I also question if there is any "real" difference between these knives and lockbacks. If the difference is less than 50% then I question if it is really worth it. Of course I am assuming that the strength of most locks are "sufficiently" strong when built correctly.

To Jeff:

We would be interested to have you test our new Magna designed by Kit Carson. Appreciate your consideration.

Jeff -- if you manage to pull this test and post/publish the results, you're definitely gonna be DA MAN!

Here are my recomms:

Lockbacks: Cold Steel Voyagers (including Gunsite) and Vaqueros (including the El Lobo and Hombre), Spyderco Civilian
Axis Lock: BM 710, 705
Integral Frame: CRK Sebenza, BM Mono-Lock, and CRKT S-2
Linerlock: Spyderco Military / Starmate, BM AFCK / Stryker, MT SOCOM, Camillus CUDA, EDI Genesis, EKI Commander / CQC-7, OE Magnas and Impulse, CRKT M16 Carsons, Kershaw Onions
Rolling Lock: REKAT (where else?) Pioneer, Carnivour, Escalator
Others: Entrek T-Lock, Cold Steel TwistMaster

I also hope you can devise a way to not only test the locks' strengths but also the locks' reliability...

More later...

Knives I'd like to see tested? Cuda II, Gerber Applegate Covert. Cold Steel Voyager, EDI Genesis, Sebenza, Apache, and the SOg Jet Edge. Put those throught some tests...can't wait to see how it goes..

Jeff --

Given the difficulty in consistently making reliable liner locks, can you tell us in advance what your policy will be if you start testing a knife and it fails due to the lock slipping off? If you're unlucky enough to get a folder with a bad lock, I'm hoping you'll plan to try another copy of that same knife. And report any slippage-type failures along with your results, perhaps.

Joe

Thanks all for the suggestions... Keep them coming...

Joe, we plan on testing more than one of each model.. How many of each will depend on the total cost of the project. We have to buy our competitors stuff, and I'm not sure how much they will let us spend yet. Lock slippage will be noted as part of the report. hopefully, we won't have too much of that type of condition.

Jeff
