Hi all, I've started the project of getting four fine knives engraved with motives I already have in mind. I need help with picking the right knives. I like Ken Onion's and Keith Ouye's models but want more options, as my idea is to get each knife from a different maker. (On the engraving side I have Simon Lytton and C.J. Cai so far.)

I like the style of these below:

I like several makers, but were unable to find lots of pics of fully engraved knives online.

Thanks a lot for contributing to this exciting project!

Think twice, cut once. I had the bolsters of a Bose knife engraved and to this day I regret doing it. The engraving job was excellent, mind you. It is that a Bose knife is perfect as is. Engraving is like tattoos, some love it, some can't see the day to get rid of it. I had a henna tattoo made once, and I kept scrubbing it until I finally got rid of it. Different strokes for different folks. Just think about it.

Chuck,

The links you gave me rock. You have good taste ;) I specially like Ray Cover and Brian Hochstrat style, and got a few knife makers names looking at their work. I agree that almost any knife maker can do a "dead bug" but I need to look at a finished knife to decide. THX FOR THE INPUT!!

A lot of makers make "dead bugs" Which are plain Jane ready to engrave knives. You can purchase one and then send it to your favorite engraver. Almost any maker can make you one of these.

Some makers make the knives and then send them out for engraving and then sell the finished engraved knife.

I see your point, and agree on finished knives you take to "add something to", but in this case the engraving theme is the central aspect on the knives, and that's why I am looking for plain steel / Titanium handles. Thanks! Jose
