Just received a recent catalog with many, many knives with Christmas embellishments on them. Does anyone here regularly carry a knife with Christmas stuff on it year round? I don't, and wouldn't care to. Likewise, it wouldn't want a knife just to carry a month out of the year either. It would be really nice if the manufacturers making the Christmas knives would instead concentrate on improving their products through better design and innovation instead of making the same crap with different graphics on the handles and blades.

Sad thing is that there are folks who actually buy that stuff! You received the SMKW Christmas 2001 catalog didn't you? :) I got mine yesterday.

Where can I find a Benchmade with St. Nick on it??? :p

The only kind of christmas stuff I like to see on my knives is wrapping paper and some ribbon.;)

Hey, I just ordered a bunch o' those fine Christmas knives. In fact, I sold my Sebenza to get cash so that I could buy a whole pile of those cool "Merry Christmas" knives -- the ones with the penguin dressed in a stocking cap and scarf, sledding down a hill (for those of you who think I'm kidding, see the back cover!) LOL

Seriously, even my six-year-old didn't go for those. He picked out a Hen & Rooster trapper with MOP handles. I'm so proud of him :D

You know, highly collectible items often fall into 1 of the following categories:

1) Well-crafted items made of superior materials
2) Items that were considered junk or disposable at the time, so very few bothered keeping them.

Maybe SMKW is hoping to fall into the latter category?

I just got my very own Carson #4. (Thanks COPFISH!!!) I swear it has Balls! oops I mean bells. Does that qualify it as a Xmas ornament???????????

I've always thought Christmas-themed knives, particularly the inexpensive Smoky offerings, were the perfect Christmas gifts for those situations in which you have no idea what else to get someone.

I never liked that crap either. Can you imagine getting in a defensive situation with "OL" Saint Nick in your hand?

Yeah... the BG would probably die laughing. :D :D :D

I really need to spend more time here. I have been laughing for the past 15 minutes at this thread.

The funniest thing is that we almost always sale out of all of the Christmas themed knives we have made. I would assume, and by assume I mean hope, that no one is actually carrying these things for use.

Unless use means a letter opener.

Thanks for making the day a little brighter.
