I am just wondering.... how does the blade stop when you flip the knife open?

Take a look here - a nice example of a knife with flipper - but there is no stop pin. How the blade stops? Can someone post more pictures?

Thank you.

all knives have some sort of stop.........not necessarily a pin, but just because the pic doesnt show it doesnt mean its there. Most of the guys who make flippers make them in the conventional liner lock fashion.

Sometimes the liner lock can also serve as the stop pin.Is that knife a Cobra by Boguesuski(spelling?)

It could be an internal stop pin. By that I mean that the stop pin is in a semi-circular milled cut in the tang of the blade.

I have made a few flipper folders and am using the dual thumb-openers as the stop. They just hit up against the bolsters/frame.

Hey, that's my knife. :D
I'll let you know how the stop works when I recieve it.

Great! I like the knife very much and I hope to get one like that in a future too :)

I have a Cobra by Phil B. If you look closely at the picture you will see a stop pin going through the blade at the tang that fits neatly into a cutout on each side of the liner when open. It also has these cutouts on the bottom half too, which serves as a stop in the closed position.

I broke out the camera, but was unable to get a very good pic. Everything is so shiny.:D I hope this gives you a better idea.

Yes, good picture.... it looks like you do not even use the thumb stud to open the knife.

David

Mine does not even have a thumb stud. The two Cobras listed at AZCK are the first ones I have seen with studs. You just press on the flipper and the knife flies open. I have never seen a folder that opens so quickly, and so smoothly, without using roller bearings.

Wow,this knife is sweet. Beautifuly constructed and finished. Just give the flipper a push and the blade glides open. Very, very smooth. I think the only reason this knife has a thumbstud is that it was a nice place to stick a ruby.
