There are tons of awesome designs around 3.75"-4.25". I find knives this size to be a pain to carry, so I don't buy any knives over 3.5". Knives like the ZT limited editions have that exotic fun factor to them. Are there any production knives that have that kind of awesomeness in a smaller package?

I like the Spyderco Sage. Not exactly sure what you're going for with fun factor but yeah the Sage is a cool knife.

Depends what your definition of fun is...

High quality materials, somewhat over the top aesthetics, fantastic action (I am a huge fan of flippers), and something unique about the knife that can't be easily found in other production knives.

The Spyderco Domino is a cool little knife to fondle.

It's one of my favorites  Solid recommendation

Any Axis lock folders are fun.

Small balisongs are fun too.

I like my mini grip, but my 300SN leaves something to be desired with the flipping action. I forgot about balisongs, but that's another area where the bigger blades prevail! I have spent hours lusting over the BRS Alpha Beast, Benchmade 6x series, Microtech Tachyons, and older Bradley Kimuras. If I want something smaller than that, it looks like I'm stuck with the Benchmade 52 or 53 :(

I like the Benchmade MPR for a small knife. It's beefy , sort of heavy and a bit of an acquired taste. But I think it's cool as hell. Plus it has M390.

CRKT Ripple comes to mind. That ball bearing pivot is quite awesome.

Smokinape, that Strider PT looks pretty dang awesome. Are they still available in that handle configuration?

I was thinking of something along lines of mini-grip or mini-barrage.

in terms of bail I was thinking of the 52 and 53, but they're more cute than fun... My small bali is this:

the zt 0801 also came to my mind first......i love the thing. But the sage 1 fits the bill just bought one today and the Spyderco Chaparral 2 is my next knife at 2.8 inches

The Benchmade 586 is an awesome little knife with a sub-3" M390 blade. The 581 is just a hair over your size limit at 3.6".

I really like the Kershaw Speedform II. It has a style all it's own. Sort of a simplistic/exotic fusion at under 3.5 inches. I need to get one for myself.

I have a ZT801CF on preorder, is it worth getting a regular 801 now? Tons of good ideas in here, thanks!

I have one but never carry it. It's uncomfortable, the blade grind is poorly done, the thumb studs are difficult to use and the clip doesn't fit the knife at all. It's a poor design.
