I have a bunch of folders (although nothing like some of the collections here), and almost all of them have a thumb ramp, like my Benchmade Mini-Grip.

Over time, my view of this feature has changed. As in: why does it have to be there at all?

So what I'm looking for is one-handed locking folders that don't have thumb ramps.

Got any pictures?

I took a quick look at the bunch of knives I had near my desk and found:
Emerson Persian
SRM 702
Spyderco Lum Chinese
Fallkniven U2
Kershaw Speedform
Kershaw Speedform 2

I also don't like thumb ramps. ...or honkin ass finger guards. The Strider SnG has no ramp which is one of the many reason it's one of my favs. Sebenzas have only a slight ramp & I really dig the design. No ramp on the Spyderco Native, Knives of Alaska folders, Shirogorov folders, Hogue EX01, of course pretty much any "traditional" slip joint. None of my FBs have a thumb ramp. The ramp is why I no longer have a Spydie Millie or a Para 2.

Why is it there? For piercing/poking. But I find that it gets in the way more than it is useful.

Honestly

I find that using the thumb ramp affords me more control when trying to do fine work, or when trying to bear down on whatever I'm cutting.

Kershaw Skyline is completely flat along the back when opened. Doesn't even have jimping.
