Ok we talk about everything we carry. We talk about everything we buy. We talk about everything we want. All this talk has to rub off on our youngsters and spouses so….

Let’s see the knives of your kids/wives/husbands/boyfriends/girlfriends are carrying.
I’ll start.
My daughter is a knife nut. She has a collection that some would envy. It’s full of an eclectic array of things from old Bucks to new GEC and a bit of tacticool to boot. She’s also kinda a freak for swords and daggers. I’ve been looking for a Maximus for a while for her but as a place holder I got her the kershaw. She freaking loves it! Heres her carry today.View attachment 1737813View attachment 1737814

My 19yo tends to carry either a standard S30V Manix or a red checkered Tenacious. He also has a substantial collection of Spyderco sprints, a Ruike F118 and a Kabar short USMC tanto. My 16yo mostly carries a Rex Chief, S30V PM2 with custom scales, M4 Para 3 lightweight, or a Ti-Lite 6. He has a large collection of other Cold Steel things, including a bunch of fixed blades and a cavalry saber. My 13yo mostly carries a S30V tanto PM2, orange Civivi Praxis or a blue Vic Swisschamp, but also has a Tenacious lightweight, CJRB Gobi and a few Kershaws. All three boys also have a full size Leatherman of one type or another. I'm probably forgetting some stuff...we have a lot of knives around here.

Our Grandson is now 12. His folks have got the four of them backpacking at times. On those occasions, he is allowed to carry a Gerber multi tool and/or a Buck 110. They live in an up-scale suburban neighborhood in an on-the-ball school district. When not backpacking or family camping his knives stay at home. It is a different world now in so many ways.

When I was a kid (call it 1958 through 1969 or eight through eighteen) I had a knife in my pocket nearly all the time. But my childhood nearly mirrored that of Beaver Cleaver in many ways, same town, same parents, same friends and kid-problems.

SAKs of course - can't see anything else coming close, but ruike makes some decent alternatives to a SAK

You're right about that.

Schools are the worst example. They don't even let teachers carry something as non-threatening as a SAK these days.

Once upon a time, not only did every young scout carry a knife, American high schools had rifle teams.

For reference my kids are now 19 (daughter)/16 (son)/16 (daughter). Damn I'm old (45)

Anyhow, many years ago I gifted them all Swisstools for Christmas. About a year or so ago, I found out that my youngest daughter has carried it daily in her backpack for may years, and often uses it. That does my heart good to know. She wants a bright pink knife, but we haven't settled on which one yet (probably a Dragonfly). For now we have given her a pink SAK classic, pink streamlight flashlight, and pink POM pepper spray.

My son, also has a Vic classic, one with the DLT Warhawk scales that came on a Rambler I used for a scale swap. When he accompanies me out in the woods hiking and camping (as he often does), he carries an OD green Griptilian that I've had for years that I gave him. He loves the outdoors, and likes knives just fine, but he shows no signs of an obsession with them.

It is my eldest daughter has shown the most interest in knives. She has a few SAK's, including one of the one-handed opening 111mm models (which one eludes me at the moment) that she has had since she was quite young. When she was 15-16, she asked for something more along the lines of what I carry, and after having her try a few of mine she decided on a mini-grip. She is a southpaw, so that played into the decision, plus she suffers from Juvenile Arthritis, so ease of use was a factor as well. I bought her the one with the spydie hole a few years back for Christmas. Then, just this past year when I was experimenting with dye jobs on Spyderco FRN, she admired one of the Dragonflys I was doing, and promptly informed me it was hers. How could I resist? It's actually a mix-match with leftover parts from a blade swap project of mine, with the FRN starting as Salt Yellow and the blade being tri-laminate HAP40/SUS410. She carries those two regularly.
