CJ,
There was a picture of an Emerson knife that you designed in conjunction with Ernie, not the dagger, but a folder with an extreem hawk bill blade. Could you please describe what its intended use was and why such an extreem curve?
Thank you,
Peter

Peter,
I am not sure what knife you are referring to. I have discussed knives with Mr. Emerson in the past. Specifically, I have put allot of time on a hawk bill that he and I were planning to make together, but to the best of my knowledge it never came to fruition. Ironically the prototype that I have is one of the knives that I wear daily.
However as often the case this may have been made without my knowledge, but that is another story.
If it is my design, then I will tell you that this design is as many of my concepts made to be effective with little training. A curved knife of this type merely needs to be placed then pulled.
This is needed for those who for whatever reason do not spend the time needed for effective traditional blade use. There are also many special techniques that are possible with this type of blade, but I cannot describe them in words only in 3D..

CJ,
Again thank you for the quick reply. I'll take a big breath and try to calm my enthusiasm. I'll try to find that picture and post a link to it.

Thank you Peter,
That is indeed the knife I designed for Ernie.
Obviously someone forgot to tell me they were going to produce it. Average!
It is hard to find people that share the same set of ethics.
I hope you are reading Andy!

CJ,

I'm confident you'll find, as I have, that Andy is a straight-shooter, who lives by his word, always.

You done good in hooking up with him.

Best,

Brian.

CJ,
Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear there was some bad dealing. I was always curious as to the use of this knife. Thank you for clearing that up!
Peter

Thats an emerson custom, they dont make many of them and since Ernest will not be doing anymore custom, good luck in getting one. If i had the money to buy one of those, it would be the first emerson i would buy.

Yes I am pretty sure it is a proto. It just sits in his desk. I don't know anyone who has it. When the picture was first published of it created quite a stir.
Peter

The two knives in the picture are Customs made by Ernie Emerson, not EKI knives.

The CQC9 is a part of the CQC series that was a standard pattern. To the best of my knowledge the other knife shown in the pictue is a one off.

The Caracci-designed hawkbill shown in the picture is one of the prototypes made some time ago, probably identical to the one carried daily by Mr. Caracci. It is in Mr. Emerson's personal collection as far as I know, and has never been put into production, even as a custom offering. It's too bad...I really like that design! Mr. Caracci, any chance of this design being produced by another maker? :D

Don't care if Andy is reading personally. I am the important one ;), and you and I will be doing working on a few trinkets......CJ!

BTW: Andy IS a very ethical guy. I think he has a special thread on this forum COMING SOON.....right Andy?

This is an inside joke for all you "Andy Is God" guys out there so no pile on's for GPB.

CJ, need the comm when able.
