I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, as it involves an auto, but the actual issue is about the Mnfg. and the contract company that made the knife.
I just received a Boker Magnum Auto, now I've held and played with a lot of autos, mostly production, BM's, and the like, also I've played with many knock offs of , production and custom models.
The point I'm trying to make is that I'm not a novice when it comes to quality knives, custom or otherwise.
Now here comes this knife, a great deal at $25, and that's a reasonable price for this knife,(hell I've spent twice that for a knife that was worth half that, but that's another story) I open the box and pull out this super fast well made Taiwan Boker Magnum Auto.
This knife is rock solid,(my only 2 complaints would be the steel Aus-8, and the safety lock should have been aluminum or steel or even micarta, as they would have been tougher materials than plastic.
My question stems from the recent knock off threads, "Is a knife a knock off if they are quality copies produced in Taiwan with the permission of the original Mnfg.
Magnum is a lower end division of Boker, yet Boker contracted this auto to a company,(Magnum) that has the QC, and tolerances of CRK&T Co.
So does this knife deserve the scorn and ridicule that all the other Knock Offs get, or does it deserve the kudos and praise warranted by a company that takes pride in their work, and their product.
I am totaly impressed with this knife, and if you have the opportunity to get one for an EDC, or even a back up, I'd highly recommend it.
I'll try to post a pic later, for now it's bedtime on the East, 5:00 AM comes mighty quick. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Edited for obscure reasons.
