I am a newbie to folding knives but that being said I have the bug and bought ten in the last month. One of them is the Kershaw knockout. I can't believe for a good sized knife it carries so well in the pocket. The smooth aluminum handles and great pocket clip make it a great edc IMHO. Thanks for all the great info everybody. Maybe someday I won't be a newbie anymore!

I'm a fan of the Knockout as well. It carries nice and thin in the pocket, and I place a big premium on that. Consider applying a small patch of skateboard tape (or similar) to provide some traction to your thumb when removing the knife from your pocket. I think its a big improvement to those slick scales.

Knockout is one of the thinnest carries. Broad blade slices well, but the belly and point orientation allow for better tip control than say, a Blur.

Check out a Cold Steel Code 4 series if you like the aluminum handles. Code 4 alum is just as cool and the knife is even thinner!!

I am also a fan of the knockout.
Buck vantage pro is also a fine knife on the thinner side.
