This may be the wrong place to ask, but I figured you W&SS guys would know. Mods feel free to move thread if necessary.

At the top of this Randall sheath, is this a Monkey's Fist Knot that has been wrapped twice instead of three times?

My eyes aren't focusing too well, yet (just got up) but it looks to me like a Chinese button knot.

The knot above has two strands side by side on each side of the knot. The Chinese Button Knot only has one strand. The Chinese Button Knot looks similar to the Boatswain Whistle Knot.

There are single and double versions of the Chinese Button Knot. (page 145 of The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots & Ropework, Geoffrey Budworth, Prospero Books, 1999, ISBN# 1-55267-986-1) or (The Ashley Book of Knots, Clifford W. Ashley, Coles, 1980, ISBN# N/A page 103, knot 603)
