Hey y'all! I believe this here is a Knot Klipper Warranted double bit. I've already removed the old handle and dipped it in rust remover and hit it with the wire wheel.

I just had a few questions about this particular head. It's got a little bit of pitting bad on one side. Is it too far gone to repair?

How would you go from here? Notice the edge is pretty rough. Should a file be able to cut this metal?

Thanks,

You will find what files work best, and what axes and steels are easier than others. A decent file and some time you will be able to get those bits nice looking and sharp.

Great axe, The Knot Klipper is one of the greats by Mann Edge Tool Co

If you can tell warm or hot by touch you can use a grinder on the pits to get something done.File will tell you how much hard steel is left start at the edge on the top and go towards the eye you can feel the difference and if it’s worth messing with.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure if a file should be able to hard the hard steel or if it was too much pitting. I've got a bit more work to do on this one before I get a new handle on it.
