Knot Suggestion?

I just wrapped my sheath in paracord. I couldn't find anything on the net about how to do it so I did my own, definitely not an expert at wrapping OR knots. I am at the end of it, and I have a single cord coming in through the bottom hole. All I need is a knot that I can tie off with. Every knot I try just ties right above the hole and is loose. Any knot suggestions that will allow me to get it as tight as possible? Thanks.

The gathering wrap knot is simple and should work well for wrapping a sheath.

While learning how to wrap items with cord or weave complicated knots, be prepared to undo everything and start all over... the frustration makes for lessons that stick. ;-)

Good point, the frustration is definitely there. That knot would work well if I had two ends, but I am left with only one strand. Thank you for your response, I think I might just have to unravel and redo, haha

You could always tie a clovehitch at the end permitting you have a grommet or hole near by to tie it to and melt it in place .

let me see if I can get some pictures of my wrapped Buck 119 sheath. try tying the knot loosely and working it as close to the wrapping as possible as you tighten it.

you could "bury" the end.

Unwrap the last 8-10 or so turns, get a U-shaped piece of sturdy wire, like an old fashioned hair pin, and lay it alongside the back of the sheath, bottom of the U towards the hole. Wrap tightly over the wire and the sheath. When you get to the bottom poke the cord in the hole and out through the back side of the sheath. Poke the cord through the bottom of the U and then pull on the legs of the U to get the end of the cord under the wraps. If you wrapped tight enough, you will need pliers...You can trim the cord to length as it starts to go under so the end of the cord does not poke out of the wraps where the U comes out.

Thanks for the replies guys!

SRR - not a bad idea at all! thank you for the suggestion. I have decided not to use the last hole in case I wanted to tie it to my leg.

Clive - Man, I tried that...it was so hard! and I couldn't get it tight enough

Mahoney - Not using the last hole it seems like this is the best thing to do, Ill give it a shot, Thanks

Also, I have a taco style sheath...what a pain to wrap! Thanks again for the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it.

Here's the pics of what I did if you're interested. For someone who doesn't know what their doing I think it looks alright, and serves its purpose. Not much rope, I know. I was trying to work with the holes, but now that I think about it, I should probably wrap the whole sheath to the turning point and that would give me a heck of a lot more rope to work with; it would also tie down the belt loop to make it a little more snug. But even still, some rope is better than none right? Dammit. I spent all that time doing that, now I think I'm going to undo it and wrap the whole thing - here's to you spketch!
