Okay, heres the deal.
I'm looking for a good fixed blade fighter/utility knife with 7-10" blade. A full tang, handle of something like leather wrapped wood, none of that high tech stuff. Blade style preferably: Scimitar curved, recurve dagger or spear point.
I've rotted my eyes out of my head looking on the net, so Im turning to you all other knife guys.
Any suggestions? Does my dream knife exist?

What's your price range?

Got a steel preference? Stainless? High impact tool steel like CPM-3V? etc......

As for the handle, I would recommend micarta. The best heavy use grips in my opinion. If you want to spend the extra money on a custom blade, you won't regret it. However, most custom makers have a waiting time if you order directly from them. Jerry Hossom's work might be something you might drool over:

His Retribution styled blade might interest you. However, it is expensive and hard to find.

Those are good, align. knida pricy.

Jedi, I think the blade is little on the chunky side, wouldnchyasay?

Another brand you might try for a tactical type knife would be Cold Steel blades in Carbon V. Here is their tactical knife section:

The OSS blade might be what you are looking for. It retails for about $100, but I'm sure you can find them online for around $60-$80. The only steels I would recommend getting from Cold Steel are their AUS-8, San Mai, or Carbon V blades. Their Carbon V blades are great.

do you mean stacked leather, or, rawhide wrap? If it's rawhide wrap, I think only the rustic/neo-tribal/frontier guys do it. If it's stacked leather, how about those blackjack/marbles/warner subhilt fighters etc...go to New Graham's site and take a look. A lot of them look really, really good. And carbon steel as well.

Yeah, Ive looked at cold steel and really like the recon tanto. The OSS looks nice too. What kind of blade style is the OSS? Where did it originate from?

If you want a leather handle, Randall knives are very nice. I have a CS black bear classic, it's the AUS-8 uncoated version of the OSS subhilt. The balance is very nice, but the knife is large (I have a Kenny Rowe shoulder rig for it) and really is more suited as a fighter. The back edge is fully sharpened and a nice clip point design, and the subhilt gives excellent control.
Pulling it out to clean your nails or cut a string will make the sheeple run to the hills, though.

The OSS is a copy of Bob Loveless's Black Bear Classic. Cold steel has their own version of the Black Bear Classic as well, but it is more expensive than the OSS. The idea behind the double bladed "bent" blade is to provide a more effective slashing primary edge, but still offer the superior piercing potential of a dagger. The bent dagger has been around for centuries, not sure where it came from originally. It's a great combat knife design though

wiseguy-
when you mentioned leather wrapping over wood, I immediately thought of several sword makers who use this method. I'm too lazy to link to them individually again, but in this thread I linked to several of those sites. Prices and quality vary, but all of those sites I linked to represent good value, based on their reputations. If you can stand to do just a little more research there, I already know several of them have exactly what you're looking for.
