Thanks for the link! I can't believe I've never run across these before. Judging only from looks/descriptions, they seem to be the German's take on Jaguars. But the aluminum handle option and SS pins look interesting. Being so cheap, I may pick one up soon and post a review.

Blasto, tough luck, but the Herbertz are as far as I know the same crap metal as the Jags etc.
I own one, but have no Jaguar to compare it with.
The pins could be stainless, but I don't know for sure.

Balidude, I kind of figured that. But, they're about the same price, so no real loss. And you never know until you flip it. Actually, that website has a lot of bali's I haven't seen before. Here's their entire list...

And it says that the SS handled bali has SS pins. That's a first for a knife THAT cheap. Worse case, I've become quite good at fixing/improving jags and other crap balis.

sorry, Alex, but it wasn't even a Herbertz. ...it was the one with the brass & horn handles -http://store.yahoo.com/gyby/butknif10gol.html

It's just got a different style of handle from the knives that I already have, and I was curious as to how it would feel. If I breakdown and get a Herbertz, too, I promise, I'll let ya know.

yep. gotta make sure that doesn't slip my mind when I'm playing around with it. i'll probably cut myself the first time i open it. old habits are hard to break...

shoot... Maybe i should have tried one of the Herbertz. Got my knifey in the mail the other day. It needs help. The bite handle is too tight at the pivot point. ...It keeps sticking out straight when I try to flip it. And the latch is too tight, also.

...Must adjust...
