I have a 422 bucklite that has seen a lot of use and I received a selector with drop point blade. I spoke to buck and they said that they won't/can't/don't have a blade. Now that's not bad on Buck's behalf because she said that they would replace the blade with current 112 blade. I just liked the shape of the drop point blade in the 428 selector. Any help would be appreciated.

the 428 selector blade will not fit in the 422 nor the other way around!!
blades from 110 size and 112 size are NOT interchangeable !!
there are important engineering design differences

IF you like the drop point blades -
a 450 blade will fit in a 422 or a 112
but why put one in a 422?
the 450 is a better handle and many have a pocket clip
my best advice is to send it in ans let them put a 112 blade in it

What I want is a 3" drop point shaped like the drop point blade on the selector. I like my 428 selector but I prefer the smaller size of the 422 sized knife. What is the steel on the 450 blade? Is it available in the 420HC?

I have several bucklite's in both 422 and 426 size and I wanted one of them to be a little different. I have used this blue one frequently for deer/antelope and it has always done well, I just wanted something different.

Are there any custom folding knife makers that would put a D2 or s30V blade in a 422 sized bucklite?

ok, if you get a 450 DP and send it in to buck with the broken 422
you can ask for the 422 to be repaired useing the 450 blade i am sure they can
and will do this if you tell them the 422 has sentential value to you
see the thread
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696707&page=2
and you can see some images of a 450 DP blade
yes leroy Remer of RRR knives could as well as many others
but the expense may be in the custom knife range..
if you send leroy the 422 and the 450 he can do the swap also
but charges for it..
i dont think you can buy Non Buck blades of s30v or other steel
that will drop in to a 422
again the 110428 type blade wont fit in to a 112/422 size frame
due to locking bar and notch differences!
or a 112..

engineering clicked the wrong word on spell checker dont you know
but could be gender differences, couldn't there ?
i mean some knives kinda look way out there in left field dont you know...
