Does anyone have any knowledge of this maker? I saw his knives at the Blade Show, and also noticed he got his MS stamp at the show. The knives I saw were awesome. He specializes in Art knives, but had some awesome authenic Bowies.

Any info is appreciated.

Ron is a nice feller and does try hard to do his best each time he goes out on a piece. You will be well satisfied with his work. Personally I reccomend him highly. I have one of his pieces.

Ron is a great knifemaker. His damascus work is among the very best. you can't go wrong
For repros of antique bowies his work is fantastic.

There was a recent article in Blade magazine about Ron Newton, I e-mailed him a ? and he answered right away. Very beutiful work.

Why am I good enough to fix my mistakes, but not good enough to keep from making them in the first place?

I saw his work at the Guild show last year, and at the Blade show this year.

Perhaps the best hand rubbed finish ive ever seen.

Very clean work, almost unbeleivably clean.

Matt.

Ron Is good folks
I bunk with him in NY . He always does a great job and has his own style. That says something great about a maker.

The Magnum camp is a very good design. Its the only one you designed that I can afford..
I didnt do any bend tests and such but I did get to see the heat treat process they use. You would approve... :]

Ralph, I don't think you could have picked a better person to bunk with. I met Ron about 3 yrs ago and consider him a good friend. I have heard and seen only the very best of things of this young man. He is honest, friendly, and very particular about the work he does. Some how it just makes me feel good knowing that I do know him. I guess I could go on, but I think you know what I mean. Of course there are a lot of my knife friends that I could say the same thing about.

I met Ron 2 years ago at the Florida Art Knife Ivitational. I was admiring one of his folders and we got on the subject of Ti. anodizing. I explained that I was a part time knifemaker and was impressed by the colors he produced on his Ti.
To make a LONG story short, I walked out of the show with 3 pages of written notes, suppliers, ideas, terminology, theory and everthing I needed to get started with anodizing!!!
I will never forget that day, the show or Ron!!

Glad you liked the Magnum. I did. I run it through a lot of things and it did well. Good value.
Good to see you at the blade show but did not have much time to jaw wit you. You looked like Walmart of the West you was moving knives so much. You put a lot of time getting to where you are at. I did not know that you bunked with Ron. Didn't ask me, nawwww, must have been that rash thing.

Raker, Once again congrats on your JS rating. You did good bubba. Legend has it that your knives are so sharp they can cut the print off of a newspaper.

Been around that young man for 3+ years and you guys are correct, He is a heck of a nice guy and a darn fine knife maker. The good ones will share what they know cause their reputation is based on how good they are at applying what they know. I don't have much use for the "I've got a secret" crowd. I had a gut full of them in the military and at my age I don't have to put up with them any more.

Thanks. Mostly its the small print though. If only I could swing it as hard as Jim Crowell does.

When you look at some of Rons knives and see the prices don't be scared away if they're out of your reach. One of the reasons I have so much respect for Ron is that he hasn't turned into the high and mighty high end maker type. He'll still make a knife that a
collector on a budget can afford. He told me that if an average guy wants one of his knives he'd like him to be able to get it.
I like that about the man.
