Has anyone knurled the lockring on an opinel folder to give it a better grip?

I have a checkering file that could work, to some extent. I feel that prior to getting a good shape, it would puncture.

Possibly a needle file and a steady hand would be better?

I'd think one would have to be careful in trying it. The steel of the locking ring is pretty thin, and it's tempered to be both springy and strong enough to hold it's shape without loosening up over time. I'd worry that filing it or otherwise cutting some sort of texture into it might weaken it or diminish the ring's ability to resist changes in it's shape, if the filing goes just a little too deep, or removes too much metal.

I've wanted to do something like that with mine, but haven't worked up the nerve to try it.

I used a Dremel once to ghetto-knurl the Ring on an No.8.. While it added a bit of grip it wasn't that much as I paid attention to not cut through the ring

Most of the grip needed to twist the bague comes from where it is split. You won't likely be able to checquer or knurl it to get more grip than it already provides.

But have at it: New and interesting mods are always fun to see!
