Knvies in Elementary School, 1890's style

Wow the book/lesson plan is really cool. I wish I had beed taught this is school.
Now these days things are way different at least I could carry a pocket knive in school in the 70s-80s.

I carried knives right through school, sheath knife at secondary school as I was involved in setting up a school allotment, nobody thought anything of it. From the age of five, we used 'craft knives' regularly, and at junior school there was a trip to a local cutler where all the boys were given knives. I missed that trip, but remember buying quite a large slipjoint on a school trip when I was about seven, was considered perfectly normal behaviour. Did anyone ever get stabbed? Me! My best friend accidentally stuck me in the side with an inch of craft knife at junior school I was 11). We didn't tell anyone, and I doubt you can still see the scar. Don't remember any other accidents.

I very much enjoyed reading that link.
And thank you Jack for sharing some of your youthful experience.. Setting up an Allotment, how do you mean that, vegetable garden?

It's sad how much the country has changed. I carried a pocket knife all through elementary and middle school. It want until some time in high school (right after columbine) that the rules changed and you would be expelled for something as simple as a sak.

The really sad part was as soon as the rules changed the school became a lot more dangerous because the gang bangers were the only ones with knives or occasionally guns and they knew it.
