I am considering dropping 240 bucks on one of these two ko-kats. Here's my conundrum.

Both are 9260 steel

Yamakami is TH
Kaze is DH

From what i've read, TH is going to give slightly better performance. +1 Yamakami

Yamakami is thinner
Kaze is thicker

+1 durability to the Kaze

Yamikami is wider
Kaze is standard width

This is a wash

Yamakami is heavier
Kaze is lighter

+1 Kaze for being faster

I am sure there are plenty of things i haven't thought of. Please tell me what those things are, then tell me which of these YOU would buy if you thought you might actually have to use it as a sword, in the real world.

I will probably never use it for anything but cutting mats and bottles, but I generally buy weapons that i feel would be usable in the real world (Think Zombie Apocalypse)

Thanks!

BP- Did you ask William for a price?
I would save up and get one. Ti is the ultimate zombie killer. And, you saw the test cutting vdo. ;) My Tikat is so fast, it almost scares me.

I just bought a Yamakami. I decided to go with the through hardened steel as it tends to be a lot tougher. I'll post a review when it arrives

You know, a while back, Cheness was having problems with their tsuka cracking. Something about them being too tight. Have they solved that problem? That's the main reason I've never bought from them.

They addressed that issue some time ago. If I remember correctly, Paul Southren on Sword Buyers Guide talked about how they tightened up QC quite a bit over at Cheness. I own the Oni Yuri and O'Katana. Beaten the crap out of both. No problems what so ever.

Got my Yamakami. Bigger and heavier than i expected, and the tsuka is a lot wider than my other kats, but i'm getting used to it, and i dig it.
