Haven't had the KO very long. I'm finding that I like it for some heavy lifting but still much prefer my KME for everything else. That being said the KO does some things really well. My question to you guys is how do you keep the metal dust that collects on the guides from marring the blade. I clean it often but I'm still seeing marks on the blades. Haven't damaged any that I really care about yet and happily none that other people have brought me to sharpen but I'm hoping there is a way to resolve this.

Worse than the metal dust is the abrasive shed from the belts. That will certainly scratch the sides of blades.

You want the ultimate cure? I'm going to challenge you here. Take off the guides and try it freehand. You might be really surprised how easy it is. Plus you get a TON more control over the grinding. You might really like it. I do. :)

Brian.

Let me chime in with Brian on this---try it freehand. Sharpie on the blade is a better "guide" IMO than the one supplied.

I'll give freehand some thought but will go with the tape for now, thanks to everyone.
