I am curious if anyone has or had one of these and what your opinions might be. I am interested in getting one as it sounds like it would not only be good for caping, but also many other things that require a fine, sharp point in a controllable package. I like the idea of the sure grip (rubberized, I assume) full size handle and VG10 steel; just looking for opinions before I decide to buy. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I bought one several years ago thinking it would be ideal for caping and small game use. Kinda the ultimate bird and trout. I haven't been fishing or hunting since so I haven't actually tried it, but my bet is they're perfect for the purpose. I see your PM function and email are disabled. email me at gronk.ron at gmail dot com if you're interested in my Super Cub.

Greetings GronK, I have never seen a super cub, only photo's, can you tell me how thick the handle and blade are and how long the cutting edge is? Even though you haven't used the knife, what is your overall impression of the knife? I have enabled my e-mail function, thanks.

Lets see; the handle is .55" thick, the blade is .10" thick, the cutting edge 2.5". The handle is comfortable soft rubber material with a double liner, brass and (I think) titanium. The handle is 4.25" long and the large choil allows choking up for fine work. The overall feel is light and somewhat flexible, not super stout like a Strider or Sebenza. Overall, perfect for what it was designed for, caping and light fish and game dressing.

Edited to add: I still get the "no email" message.

If you have a Sportsman's Warehouse near you, they carry the line. I've handled them but not used them. VERY nice....the handles, while they sound plain, are very nice with large eyelets through the scales. I'm a fan only of their fixed blades, so I couldn;t give an unbiased opinion of the Super Cub. KOA makes nice stuff...I'll say that.

My son has one and he does not use it to cape deer (he is a taxidermist) I think he said it is too pointy, cuts the cape. :( But for fine work it performs very well.

I have two of them and you can't beat them for a small compact knife. IMO KOA is about as good as production knives get. I have six or eight and will have a couple more before I am done. Most of their blades are now D2.
