I'm gonna buy a new khukuri from HI but it's so difficult to choose just one. wish i could buy all of them but that's not in the cards right now. I already own a 20" AK that weighs upwards of 3 lbs. It is a beautiful and effective knife but the damn thing is exhausting to use and i broke my wrist a while back which means the behemoth is pretty much a display piece now.

this being said i'm definitely looking for something lighter, more agile. the kobra is attractive to me but so is the sirupati. anyone thats owned either one or both of them give me any advice?

I'm also very curious about some of the "special runs" featured on the site. I love the hasiyas, and the movie model is probably the coolest knife i've ever seen. how does one go about acquiring one of these special runs? is there a custom shop of sorts at HI?

My opnion for this is order a 20' sirupati. About special design you can email Yangdu for this, go an ask her directly or you can ask also karda for some advice and help

+1 on the 20" Sirupati. I love mine; swings fast and seems just the right length.

If you are looking for a more heavy duty machete that can be pressed into a martial role, I'd go with the Siru. 18" seems about right for something I would still consider a practical fighter.

If you are looking for a martial blade, a 20" kobra at an ounce an inch is brutally fast. I have a 20.5oz 20.5" one that whistles through the air. I have zero training in martial arts short of a lot of time behind a khuk, but this knife is just fantastic:)

I can swing my 18 and 20 inch Sirus through the air fast enough to make the "whoosh"/whistling sound. I have no idea what they weight though.

The 18" feels weightless in the hand.
