I was lucky to win a 19 inch 19 ounce chainpuri on the weekend that hasn't reached me yet. I see that today an 18 inch 19 ounce kobra is offered on the Cantina. I know that these two models have different handles, a different chow, and that the chainpuri has a pointer end to the blade, but functionally are these two models any different to one another? They both look like they could be useful cutting vines and as martial arts weapons. Is one better than the other in any way?

They both seem to fall in the well balanced fighter catagory, but the bulbous rear end of the Chainpuri (and Chitlangi) is going to make it quicker.

My opinion is an inch to an ounce for fighters makes a quick blade.

I've a 17" 14 oz. Chainpuri villager - Halfway scary. But it's my 12" sirupati I call Audrey that scares me. If I got scared with her on me, I'd run. Then I'd probably wonder how Audrey got into my hand, and why she had blood all over her.

Ever hear of a fighter pilot having his fangs out? That's my Audrey ( from the plant in Little Shop of Horrors ).

They handle different for sure. My chainpuri has less of a bend at the elbow than my kobra; YMMV. My kobra can do "hooking" maneuvers better, but the chaipuri seems to combine some of the good aspects of a straight blade and our beloved crooked knives. Chainpuri definitely can slash better, kobra chop better. All in the angle of the dangle. Gotta love the bulbous love nubbin on chits and chains too ~ makes them real easy to hang onto.:p

Khuks are funny critters, a lot depends on which kami made it, and what kind of mood he was in. I've got a 20 inch, 22 oz., Sirupati by Raju (Amtrak) that's so quick and deadly feeling in the hand that everyone who's handled it, without fail, has reported getting "cold chills". I bought it thinking it would make a good weed whacker, but you only have to hold this khuk a few seconds to know for dead certain, it ain't no vegetarian.

Difficult to call. I love my Cheetlangi, bit the kobra is also very agile. I think my preference for the Cheetlangi iis maimly due to the fullers and the sword of Shiva. Just a classy looking khuk.
