I carry my CS Kobun at work, in my clipped to me pocket. Its comfortable, and out of the way for me. The only trouble is most of the time when I try to draw the knife, the whole thing comeds with it. Like the clip isn't catching. I don't know if its the clip, or the jeans material itself that isn't catching.

Soluation? Other ways to wear this time of shealth?

I don't have a Kobun but heres some general fixes. Necessity is the mother of invention and all that.

Perhaps you can tighten the clip by bending iit slightly tighter.

Roughen the underside of the clip with sandpaper crosswise the direction of resistance to the draw.

It is often effective to slide a 2 inch piece of innertube up along the sheath, you can leave it at any point but if you put it directly under the clip it will take up a lot of slack.

Or you can get an aftermarket clip for it from various sources...

some kobuns come with a sheath that clamps the little rubber hilt of the knife very tightly. I had one that did, & the hilt quickly came apart, and I had to return it to Cold Steel for replacement under warranty. They said this was a common problem w/earlier kobuns. The replacement they sent was just fine.

Anyway, first check how tight the knife is held in the sheath. If it's too tight, you can use a heat gun (or even a lighter) to loosen the pinching kydex up a bit. The clip on the Kobun is pretty stout, so I doubt that's where the problem is.

The knife fits in the shealth fine, its the clip not catching so I can pull the knife out that is the problem. I like to wear inside pockets...its just the right size. Just wondering how to tighten the clip...or other ways to wear it in the open as it is legal here to do so.

well, the clip is made to go around a belt, or IWB, with something more substantial than pocket fabric to hold onto. You could try heating the top bend of the clip and bending it in towards the sheath, to create more tension. Chan's idea of putting an innertube sleeve around the sheath where it meets the clip would also increase tension. Or you could lengthen & thicken the end of the clip with epoxy, creating more tension and more surface area to grip the pocket material, but this might make other modes of carry more difficult. Good luck!
