I have two kobun knives. The first one I cut off the top guard for a more comfortable saber grip but then I realized that now it doesn't really work with the sheath so I bought another one and decided to use the first one in the kitchen.

Now I realise a very annoying clicking sound when I shake the knife, holding the handle or when I apply lateral force. First I was afraid there was a crack in the tang or something but I thought it wouldn't be likely. Now I wonder if water didn't get under the kraton and loosened the epoxy or something. I kept it upside down for a couple of days but still the same. If there is no functional problems I can live with it but is there any way to remove the handle and put it back?

Thanks for any advice

The SRK handle is held in place by the lanyard tube acting as a cross-pin. I do not own a Kobun but from pictures it looks to be constructed the same way. If this is correct, you can press out the lanyard tube and slide the handle off. Do the reverse to re-handle, obviously. Pressing a pin into a hole displaces some material, and it doesn’t exactly spring back. So pressing the tube out and then back in means it may not be as tight as before. Some epoxy on the handle part may be in order in that case for extra security.

Okay thanks. I hope the lanyard tube doesn't get damaged trying to get it out
