Koenig Arius - Open with thumb?

Recently bought my first Arius. I love this knife. I've watched videos where people are easily opening it with their thumb. Any Arius owners out there know how to do this and have any tips? I know that my difficulty is related to me applying pressure to the lockbar, because if I hold the knife in my left hand, I can easily open it with my left thumb. Any tips to slow roll this open with my right hand would be great appreciated!

Try putting your middle finger on the blade opposite your thumb, at the opening hole. A little push from both sides will break the detent with with the motion of the blade in check. From there, pull the middle finger back and slow roll it open with your thumb.

I've actually done the middle finger + thumb open, and I found it awkward. But after doing it a few more times, it's much more intuitive.

I couldn't do the thumb only even trying to focus my other fingers on the pocket clip - but now I can do it. It still feels really awkward, but it's getting better. Now I can thumb flick it. Thanks!

Lol no. It's just that Arius is susceptible to lockbar death. So if your try opening with your left hand, it's extremely simple. All the pressure is off lockbar that way. Also, in the left hand, I can't middle finger flick for the same reason because your thumb is on the lockbar at that point.. But if I hold it upside down in the left hand, I can middle finger flick

Being left handed, I've learned to acclimate my fingers to the pocket tip to prevent excessive pressure on the lock bar. It's awkward at first and feels like the knife will slip out of your hand. Once I learned to spread out my fingers to have control, it's all good now.
It's not a position that feels natural, but it can be learned and be comfortable enough to use.

I've been playing with it. I can do it, but it's not good yet. So far, the middle finger plus thumb is more intuitive. Of course, it's best to just flick it open! This thing flies open.

I just wanted to follow up on this thread. I recently got a new Arius, and my issue on the original (that prompted the thread) was also due to how the detent was dialed in. My new Arius has a much lighter detent, which results in zero lockbar death (regardless of how it's held), and the ability to easily open the thumb as well without contorting the hand. I think they are benefits to both a weak or a strong detent for this knife. The strong detent makes the knife more "thwacky" on opening, and also leads to a more controlled closing. The weaker detent makes for a knife that can easily be opened without lockbar death, but with less thwack on open, and a more guillotine drop shut.
