I just got this beautiful pair of blades in the mail from Burchtree and just thought I'd share a pic that I took of them.

The pic was taken with my version of Coop's No Frills $75 Light Tent and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. My photo skills still need a lot of work, but this was promising.
The backstory behind these two blades is that I found out in May that one of my close friends was moving back to the mainland so I wanted to get her a good going away present. She loves knives and I had this idea in the back of my head so I contacted Burchtree about taking on the project. Basically I wanted to get two knives done that were made from the same stock and the dragon and tiger menukis represent our chinese zodiac signs. Michael agreed and he turned out these two beautiful knives that he hammered out from one piece of W2 roundstock. He sent me pics every step of the way so I could see the progression of the blades. So one of these will be sent up to her and the other will stay here with me and hopefully one of these days they will get to meet up again.
My thanks to Michael for agreeing to do this--the pics don't do these two justice as they are much more beautiful in person and Michael was a great guy to deal with.
