Kopa - Apple Coral - Use it?

Was debating a UKPK Ti, but in the store just had to have the Kopa in Apple Coral. It seems perfect for the office environment populated with sensitive souls. Small and non-threatening, feels great in hand, yet up to any task asked of it in that environment.

Now that it's home, I'm wondering if it should be put into regular use. If not clipped on, but instead dropped into a pocket, would the other clutter damage the scales? Would Pacific Blue be more durable?

I have trouble buying a knife to store it away...a ship in the harbor and all that.

Which is the greater sin - regular carry and use OR not carrying and using this little beauty?

Did you buy both of them? And no Turquoise? It was a great deal on Apple coral, actually it was steal.
Kopa is very capable knife, do not let size to mislead you. Probably you already know about great ergos. I EDCed Kopa Cocobolo for several years until couple month ago. I wouldn't be concern with damaging scales, you will scratch bolsters first , but it is easy to fix with 1000 grit sandpaper or scotch-brite. Still try not to carry metal objects in the same pocket. Durability wise probably both types of scales about the same, so carry the one, which you enjoy more.
Good luck

Yes, use it! the kopas are great for office carry. I picked up a couple of the apple coral and pacific blue as well. I think I scored 7 kopas and 4 kiwis from "that store". True, you may ding it if you pocket it with loose change. BTW, grab a kiwi if there are any left. They come in a nice leather pouch and are really nice too. I love the carbon fiber and red bone.

Coral is a fairly soft material and, while I'm sure the Apple Coral used on the Kopas has been stabilized, dropping it in a pocket with other clutter is still likely to scratch and ding it. Bone, regardless of color, is much more durable in that regard. But, either way, carrying a bolstered knife loose in a pocket with other stuff is bound to scratch up the bolsters. Carrying clipped, in a pouch, or in a dedicated pocket, would be preferable. The Kopas I occasionally carry have had their clips removed and they fit very nicely in the watch/change pocket of my jeans.

I carried a Kopa for quite a while, but I dedicated a pocket to it. It's now stored away: I'd hate to lose it! Mine is the mother-of-pearl with little bits of black abalone.

Thanks - the Kopa practically begs to be used. It's amazing such a small knife can feel so good and substantial in hand.

Only picked up the Apple Coral as it was the shiny object demanding attention. Seems slightly more care will be needed than the typical G-10 handle, though every useful knife develops character over time.

Have also picked up several Benchmades from "that store" for use and gifting. Will have to re-visit to see if any Kiwis remain - it's all pretty picked over now.

Would someone share which shop you picked it up at? I go to CT shot and would love another knife store to visit?

Back to topic. Carry it but get a leather slip sheath to carry it in.

Saberman, e-mail sent. (Don't believe they are a paid sponsor, so not mentioning on the forum.)

Thanks for the tips. Seems the scale material will need a little more care than I'm accustomed to - seems worth it. It has entered service and gets fondled with embarrassing regularity.
