hi, i am a traveller, i just finished a very long trip through latin America and i hitchhiked the entire way from Northern USA. I carry what i thought was a 3 inch legal folding knife but things i have read here suggest that it might be a gravity knife because it has a extension to push in order to aid in its opening.

I will be traveling to Korea and from there taking a ferry to China and hopefully hitchhiking all the way through India. obviously it will be a difficult trip so my plans are all very preliminary. I will be traveling with a knife for the same reasons i would anywhere, though i doubt any country i will go to will be as dangerous as USA ghettos. I need to know what sort of knife i should be carrying. I suppose Korea will have the strictest laws but, to be honest, im not morally opposed in any way to the breaking of laws.

I also carry a multi-tool with a hammer instead of a pliers for the head. I like that because of the relatively low commitment when choosing to use it. It is not an easy thing to decide to take out a knife, so i would suggest to any traveler to have a blunt weapon that you are not afraid to use. Especially when considering that a person trying to rob you might just be hungry.
I have never come close to using it.
