I recently was very happy to receive a Karda from Dan Koster. Its a beauty to be sure with sandblasted scales, and red liners. I've been so busy lately it seems, with the baby. Anyway, I made it a horizontal carry sheath, finally done, and took some pics of it.

Also pictured are a new sheath design. And a leather pouch I made for my fire kit.

Andy,

looks great to me! Any pics of the backside of your horizontal sheath?

Blessings from Hamburg,

Keno

Here is the back. Not my best stitches. Workable design though.

Nice work, Andy, I like it!

Is the oval ring in the last pic a viking steel from Ragnar?

Andy

I got that from ebay. Ragnar is always sold out on his steels. Don't overpay on ebay. The kit I bought was 9 bucks. 12 shipped.

That's a fine looking pouch, Andy. Taking orders?

Thanks, but no, not taking any more leatherworking orders at all. I got that anvil weeks ago, and haven't allowed myself one tap yet. Gotta fill sheath orders. No more leatherworking orders will be taken for the time being.

The hammered effect comes from hammering damp leather with a ball peen hammer.

Andy,
It has been very gratifying to watch your craftsmanly progress. Every post seems better than the last - that's great.

Great knife Dan. It was certainly a quick sheath to make. Some are that way. The knife gets into my dreams, and the sheath comes to be so fast I can't explain how it got done. Some knives take forever to get the mojo working. Some are designed in a way that it takes a few days of sleeping on them to get an inspiring design.

Ted, your small knife is like that last one. And your Sarge knife was furiously fast. Wierd.
