Hi All,

I am new to this forum. I have been reading on this forum and found the information most interesting.

I am interested in buying a kothimoda, I think that's the most beautiful khukri I have ever seen. I have seen only pics until now.

I wanted to know what is the lead time for this khukri. My brother would be visiting US in Mid Jan. and I want him to order and get a Kothimoda for me.

Could some members enlighten how much lead time does it take to get the khukri once ordered. And what would be the shipping time to Boston area.

Thanks and Wish everyone a Great new Year

There is a Hanshee Kothimoda available right now. Look doen the page a few topics for "Hanshee Kothimoda".

It depends on weather what you order is currently in stock in Reno or if it has to be made and/or shipped from Nepal. Shipping from Reno was pretty fast for the one HI I've ordered so far from one of the "deal of the day" posts. Yangdu shipped it the next day and then if I recall correctly, it took about 2 days to get to Indianapolis IN. I have no idea how long it takes to get something from Nepal.

I actually looked at the Hansee Kothimoda, its really nice, but i want the Flagship one.

Does any member have it. How is their experience.

The bone handle does not stand up to hard use, other than that, it is a nice khukuri.
You can use it, just dont try to chop down a tree or hit any rocks..

Welcome Carrot Eater:)

What I would do is shoot an email to Yangdu at himimp@aol.com.
She's a very wonderful lady to deal with and quick to respond. She should be able to tell you what she has in stock and how long the ship time from Nepal might be should you custom order it.

In general, it might take a little longer than a couple of weeks to get something custom made from the shop in Nepal delivered here stateside. Nepal has been in political struggles for years now. So, not only is the shipping distance a problem, but HI has to jump through numerous hoops just to get their shipments out. However, if she has the khuk you want in stock, then it usually a matter of just a few days to ship from Reno to pretty much anywhere in the CONUS.

Best rule of thumb, always check with Yangdu first:thumbup:

Once again, Welcome!:D

I have a chandan (wood) handled kothimoda. It's a magnificent piece! Heartily recommend them. As was said, the bone handled ones aren't suited for hard work, but the spotted deer horn, wood, and horn are fully functional.

I had some R-7s made by special request . . . they were available in 7 or 8 weeks after my first e-mail.

I think HI will also ship overseas, if that is an issue.

Thanks for all the replies. My intention with the Kothimoda is display. I want a aesthetically appealing and if required which could be used. And after spending hours on the internet, I found that the HI kothimoda is perfect.
I will send a mail to Yangdu and inquire about the stock and hope she has a good one in stock

Again thaks for all the replies

Hi Steve,

That is a very beautiful kothimoda..and a brilliant picture as well..

And i was under the impression that all kothimodas are made by the Royal Kami, but I notice that the one in the pic is made by another Kami...

Thanks a lot for posting the picture.
