Hi Folks,

Just wanted to share a pair of pictures of the HI Kothimoda Uncle Bill had made up for me. These pictures were done with my macro lens, hence the slight curvature along the edges of the frame.

Though it may be an overused phrase regarding HI products and craftsmanship, truly "pictures do not do justice" to this beautiful work of art. One of the reasons I used the macro was to try and capture some of the intricate silverwork. And the scabbard do weigh some, too

The balance and feel of the blade is perfect, and as you can tell from the picture it's a thick, full blade. It would be a superb user, 'cept it's too pretty

For the moment it rests in an el cheapo glass lidded display case until more appropriate quarters can be built.

Frankly, when I ordered it I almost second-guessed myself and cancelled. It's expense and ornateness.. well, I don't own many things "just for show". This is a classy and elegant knife, well worth every dollar, and I'm glad I could get one while they were still available.

Thanks Uncle Bill

It is $450, Jay. Half a pound of silver, two to three weeks working it. Bura cures the bone for the handle himself. This is a time consuming rig. We are averaging about one per month.

I have to agree, the pictures simply do not do this khukuri and its scabbard justice. I received my kothimoda today and words fail me....so....

Maybe James Mattis will buy a kothimoda so we can get some super pix and scans. But these pix are not so bad -- hell of a lot better than I can do with the equipment I've got!

James, once you start fondling this and checking out the silverware, you will NOT want to let it go.... this is definitely a piece that serious HIKV sufferers should not pass up.... An excellent piece of Nepal.

Better listen to Harry, James.

Harry James! My favorite trumpet player. Anybody know who I'm talking about?

There is a long wait list, James. We are only producing one per month so sign on. We need the pix and I'll give you a nice discount in exchange for those excellent graphics you generate down there in LA.

Uncle Bill, I've heard some of his music and it is pretty decent stuff. Do tell us more...

Harry

Well, Harry James was married to the beautiful and very sexy Betty Grable -- which gives me the opportunity to say something as nasty as one can but I can't do it on the HI forum. I just gave a lecture on ethics in another thread.

Harry played the Flight of the Bumble Bee better than any trumpeteer before or since. I loved his music. He got his start, so I hear, playing in a circus band.

What has this to do with kothimodas? If trumpet music were khukuris Harry would have played HI kothimodas.
