Uncle Bill,

I saw that you do not offer that beautiful Kotimora anymore and it is sold out. Why? Are you planning to have more?

Regards.

Figure one or two months as of today. That can change if somebody jumps in ahead of you. It takes us about 5 or 6 weeks per knife.

Wow, takes that long? How many man hours goes into that thing? How much does one of those scabbard weight?

Bura cures the horn handle himself and makes the knife -- figure a week or so flow time. The scabbard men can't start on the scabbard until they get the knife -- custom fit -- figure a day or two flow time. And the silver men can't start on their work until they get the scabbard and they spend two to three weeks doing the silver work. We have pix of them at work somewhere.

I'll have to check, Man, to make sure. I know I have two prepaid orders and perhaps three. The good news is I hear there are two kothimodas in this latest shipment which is being scrutinized by the FDA in Los Angeles. For what reason I don't know.

Uncle Bill, If I wanted to import bowls into this country, what interaction might I expect from the FDA and my business? This is a hpothetical...I am just wondering how the FDa decides to do anything.

FDA inspection?

Food and Drug Administration??

Whaaaat??

Unless someone's knawing on the handles, seems a little outside of their area of juristiction...

If it's being shipped through Cal they are bug senistive due to agriculture being so important to the economy.

I'm guessing other agencies could ask the FDA to look at something for other reasons. That's why I asked about it...how many hoops, how much inspection is normal regarding overseas shipping? Or should my paranoia run rampant and start guessing a disgruntled ex-forumite has told the authorities opium is being brought in the butt caps of sheaths? Or how about the CIA thinking Maoists are using the business as a money launderer? Or Maxwell Smart is alive and talking to Kennedy's brain kept in a dish, deep in the Kami's shop?

Akio, Terry Sisco is repairing your handle. He broke his hand awhile back and has not been able to work. But he'll get it, don't worry, and as soon as he does I'll ship it back with no rattle.

Oh sorry now i know what it is.

BTW who came up with these stories about Khukuris? Ex-forumite who was disgruntled. Very unprofessional behavior!

Regards,

Manoucher

Man, that is our fabled Food and Drug Administration. Since there were no food or drugs in the parcels they saw fit to inspect the contents for three days.

Bill,

If the good news is that a bunch of Californian bureaucrats are needlessly delaying your shipments, I dread to think what counts as bad news down your way...

The FDA kept the knives 3 days for reasons known only to them since there was no food and no drugs in the shipment.

It's the "govmint". Don't need a reason. They just do. That's what so spooky about it. :(

At least they didn't destroy any khukuri handles or scabbards looking for stuff that was not there as they sometimes do.
